Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms" or "Agreement") govern your access to and use of the FixingBook website, software documentation repositories, verification logs, APIs, and community portals (collectively, the "Services"). Please read this Agreement carefully. By accessing or using the Services, you signify your acceptance of and agreement to comply with these Terms.

1. Parties and Contractual Relationship

This Agreement is made between you (the "User") and the FixingBook Project Team (hereinafter referred to as "FixingTeam", "we", "us", or "our"). If you are accessing or using the Services on behalf of a company, corporation, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you possess the authority to bind such entity to this Agreement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the FixingTeam, its developers, moderators, and contributing authors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including, but not limited to, cost of hardware replacement, loss of software access, data loss, operating downtime, network exposure, or system security breaches) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services or the troubleshooting guides hosted on the Platform.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the FixingTeam and its affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your violation of this Agreement, misuse of the Services, or infringement of third-party intellectual property rights in your contributions.

4. User Accounts, Credentials, and Node Signatures

To contribute to the Services, suggest modifications, or sign off on guide compatibility, you must register and authenticate through the unified sign-in gate.

• You agree to supply accurate registration signals and guard your sign-in tokens, email inbox access, or OAuth keys against unauthorized intrusion.
• You acknowledge that your contributions are linked to a cryptographically generated pseudonymous Node Signature. This signature is publicly displayed on the registry to maintain audit trails and reputation scores.
• We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to deactivate, restrict, or suspend accounts that engage in malicious editing, system spam, or credentials abuse.

5. Contributor Intellectual Property & Open Licensing

Contributors retain copyright over the raw material they submit. However, to operate the community registry, all content submissions must be licensed under standard open terms:

1. Text and Guides License: By publishing troubleshooting manuals, verification checklists, or guides, you grant the Licensor and the public a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to distribute, copy, adapt, translate, and build upon your contributions under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC-BY-SA 4.0) license.
2. Script Snippets License: Any code blocks, batch routines, or shell scripts submitted are licensed under the terms of the permissive MIT License.
3. Originality Warranty: You represent and warrant that your contributions are your own original creation or that you hold clean legal licenses to submit them under the conditions above. You agree not to upload guides that infringe any third-party patent, trademark, or trade secret.

6. Prohibited Activities

When using our Services, you agree that you will not:

• Submit or link to commands, executables, or configurations designed to install malware, ransomware, cryptominers, spyware, or execute unauthorized destructive actions (e.g. system wipes without clear prior warning).
• Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to scrape, load, or search the registry in a manner that degrades service responsiveness, or execute brute-force queries on D1 database engines.
• Impersonate core developers, system moderators, or other contributors, or manipulate consensus validation scoring by register-padding or sybil voting.

7. Copyright Infringement (DMCA Compliance)

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe that any material on our Platform infringes your copyright, please file an infringement notice containing the specific location of the material, a description of the copyrighted work, and your legal contact credentials, and email it to legal@fixingbook.com.

8. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is deemed unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and us concerning the use of the Services.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute arising from your use of the Services, shall be governed by, and interpreted in accordance with, the laws of the jurisdiction of the Platform's operational base (the United States), excluding its conflicts of law rules. You agree that any legal action arising from this Agreement must be brought in courts located therein.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to revise this Agreement at any time. Modified terms will be published directly to this page with an updated "Last Updated" timestamp. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of modifications signifies your binding acceptance of the updated Terms.
