1. Permission to use guide material
Subject to these terms, you may copy and run FixingBook commands and snippets for personal troubleshooting or on systems you are authorized to administer. You may adapt examples to your own environment when you understand the change and have a safe way to reverse it.
2. Conditions of use
- Use commands only on devices, accounts, and networks you own or are expressly authorized to manage.
- Review the complete command, placeholders, target paths, privileges, and rollback instructions before execution.
- Create appropriate backups and preserve encryption or recovery keys before changing boot, storage, firmware, identity, or security settings.
- Apply one meaningful change at a time so its effect can be observed and reversed.
- Follow the license and terms attached to third-party packages, tools, code, or documentation.
3. Uses that are not permitted
You may not use guide material to gain unauthorized access, conceal malicious activity, damage or surveil another person’s system, evade lawful controls, distribute malware, or misrepresent a contribution as your own. You may not present the FixingBook name or verification marks as an endorsement of a modified or unverified procedure.
4. No automatic redistribution license
Unless a guide or included third-party work names a separate license, these terms permit use for authorized troubleshooting but do not grant a general right to republish the FixingBook collection, mirror the registry, sell guide bundles, or use FixingBook branding. 5. Safety and compatibility
Commands can behave differently across versions, vendors, shells, locales, permissions, and hardware. A guide’s “works on” list and verification history are evidence, not a compatibility guarantee. If output differs from the guide, stop before continuing. Do not substitute device names, disk identifiers, registry paths, firmware images, or package versions unless you have independently verified them.
6. Third-party tools
Downloads and packages linked from a guide are controlled by their publishers. Prefer official vendor sources, verify signatures or checksums when available, and review the publisher’s current license and privacy terms. FixingBook does not grant rights in third-party material.
7. Warranty and liability
Guide material is provided “as is” without a promise that it is error-free, current, or suitable for your system. To the extent permitted by law, FixingBook and individual contributors are not liable for loss caused by running or adapting guide material. Rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
8. Relationship to other policies
The Terms of Service, Safety-First Standards, and any explicitly identified third-party license also apply. If a specific third-party license conflicts with this page for that third-party material, its license controls.
