Glossary of terms
Learn how we verify technical solutions and manage the database.
Node Signature
A unique, pseudonymous identifier assigned to every contributor account. When you submit a guide, propose an edit, or verify a solution, your action is logged under this signature. This maintains a public audit log without exposing personal emails or private data.
Rollback Path
Instructions detailing how to reverse every action in a guide. If a solution recommends running a command, modifying a config file, or editing a registry value, it must provide the exact steps to safely revert your system to its previous state.
Consensus Reputation (REP)
A score tracking your contributions to the database. Points are awarded when other users confirm your guides, when your suggested edits are accepted, or when you verify other guides.
Peer Audit Queue
The staging area for new guides. Before a solution is officially marked as verified, it is placed in the audit queue so users with the relevant operating system or configuration can test and review the steps.
Verified Mark
A badge displayed on guides that have successfully resolved the issue for multiple independent users. This badge indicates the solution has been tested and confirmed across different configurations.
