Problem overview

Your Android phone continuously restarts or freezes on the manufacturer logo during startup. This prevents you from accessing the operating system or your files.

Common causes

  • Corrupted system update or firmware failure
  • Misbehaving third-party application
  • Depleted or failing battery
  • Corrupted cache partition

Solution 1: Force restart the device

  1. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button simultaneously.
  2. Keep holding both buttons for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Release the buttons when the screen goes black and the manufacturer logo appears.
Expert Tip

On some older devices, you may need to hold Power and Volume Up instead.

Solution 2: Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Power off the device (if possible) or wait for a restart cycle.
  2. Turn the phone on and press and hold the Volume Down button as soon as the logo appears.
  3. Release the button when the lock screen shows Safe mode in the bottom left corner.
  4. If the phone boots successfully, uninstall any recently downloaded applications.
  5. Restart the device normally to exit Safe Mode.

Solution 3: Wipe cache partition from Recovery Mode

  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons until the recovery menu appears.
  3. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe cache partition.
  4. Press the Power button to select it.
  5. Confirm the action and wait for it to complete.
  6. Select Reboot system now.

Solution 4: Perform a factory reset

  1. Boot back into Recovery Mode using the steps above.
  2. Navigate to Wipe data/factory reset using the volume buttons.
  3. Press Power to select, then confirm your choice.
  4. Wait for the reset process to finish.
  5. Select Reboot system now.
Critical

A factory reset will erase all user data, apps, and settings on the device. Use this only as a last resort if all other methods fail.

Confirm the result

  1. Repeat the exact action that originally triggered the problem.
  2. Confirm the original error or symptom is gone and no new warning has appeared.
  3. If the guide changed a driver, service, package, or system setting, restart once and test again.
  4. If the result is worse or unexpected, stop. Reverse only the last change using its documented restore option; if none is documented, use your backup or qualified support.
